Setting Email Configuration
After installing Login AlertX, configure it to start receiving email notifications for login events. This section covers setting up email notifications (OAuth or SMTP), notification preferences, premium features, and privacy settings. Double-click the system tray icon to open the configuration window.
Configuring Email Notifications
Login AlertX supports two methods for sending notifications: OAuth (recommended for Google/Outlook accounts) and SMTP (for custom email servers). Set up OAuth first for ease and security.
Option 1: OAuth Setup (Google or Outlook)
- In the configuration window, navigate to the Email Settings tab.
- Select your email provider:
- Google: For Gmail or Google Workspace accounts.
- Outlook: For Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 accounts.
- Click Sign in with Google or Sign in with Outlook.
- A browser window will open. Sign in to your account and grant Login AlertX permission to send emails on your behalf.
- After authentication, the configuration window will display a “Success” message.
- Click Test Email to send a test notification to your email address.
- Check your inbox (and spam/junk folder) for the test email.
- Click Save to store your email settings.

Tips:
- Ensure your browser allows pop-ups for the authentication page.
- If authentication fails, check your internet connection and try again.
- Use a dedicated email account for notifications to keep them separate from personal emails.
Option 2: SMTP Setup
Use SMTP if you’re using a non-Google/Outlook email provider or prefer manual configuration.
- In the Email Settings tab, select SMTP.
- Enter the following details:
- SMTP Server: Your provider’s server (e.g.,
smtp.gmail.com
for Gmail,smtp-mail.outlook.com
for Outlook). - Port: Typically 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL). Check your email provider’s settings.
- Username: Your full email address (e.g.,
[email protected]
). - Password: Your email password or an app-specific password (required for Gmail or other two-factor authentication accounts).
- SMTP Server: Your provider’s server (e.g.,
- Click Test Email to verify the settings by sending a test email.
- If the test email is received, click Save to store your settings.

Tips:
- For Gmail, generate an app-specific password at https://myaccount.google.com/security if two-factor authentication is enabled.
- Ensure your email provider allows third-party apps to send emails.
- Check your firewall settings if the test email fails.
