Getting Started

Welcome! This guide walks you through installing Login AlertX, setting it up for the first time, and receiving your first login alert. Most users are up and running in under five minutes.

Step 1: Check System Requirements

Before installing, make sure your PC meets the following:

• Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11 (64-bit recommended)
• Permissions: Administrator rights are required to install the background service that monitors login events
• Internet connection: Required only for WhatsApp alerts, push notifications, and Gmail sign-in (Google OAuth). SMTP email works on a local network without internet.
• Webcam / microphone: Optional — only needed if you enable photo or audio capture (Premium)

Step 2: Download & Install

1. Download the Login AlertX installer from the official website, via the Microsoft Store, Softpedia, or Uptodown, or MajorGeeks.
2. Run the installer. When prompted by Windows, click Yes to allow administrator access — this is required to register the background monitoring service.
3. The installer will:
   • Install the Login AlertX client app (the window you interact with)
   • Register the LoginAlertXService — a Windows background service that runs even when you’re not logged in, continuously watching for login events
4. Once installation is complete, Login AlertX will launch automatically.

Step 3: First Launch

On first launch, Login AlertX opens its setup window. You will also notice its icon appear in your system tray (the icons near the clock in the bottom-right corner of your screen) — this is how you open it later.

The app has several tabs along the top. You’ll start on the Setup tab:

Step 4: Set Up Email Notifications

Email is the primary notification channel and is available on the Free plan. On the Setup tab, choose how you want to connect your email:

Option A — Sign in with Google (Gmail) — Recommended

1. Select Sign in with Google as the authentication method.
2. Click Authenticate. A browser window opens asking you to sign in to your Google account and grant Login AlertX permission to send email on your behalf.
3. Once authorised, return to the app. No password is stored — Login AlertX uses a secure token that refreshes automatically.
4. Enter the recipient email address where alerts should be sent. This can be the same Gmail address or any other email.

Option B — SMTP (Any Email Provider)

1. Select SMTP as the authentication method.
2. Enter your outgoing mail server details:
   • SMTP Host — e.g. smtp.gmail.com, smtp.office365.com
   • Port — typically 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)
   • Username — your email address
   • Password — your email password or app-specific password
3. Enter the recipient email address for alerts.
4. Click Test Email to verify the settings work before saving.

💡 Tip: If you use Gmail with SMTP, you’ll need to generate an App Password in your Google account security settings, since Google blocks direct password sign-in for third-party apps. Using Sign in with Google above avoids this entirely.

Step 5: Save Settings & Run a Test

1. Click Save Settings. Your credentials are encrypted and stored locally on your PC — they are never sent to any server.
2. Click Send Test Email to confirm everything is working. You should receive a test alert at your recipient address within a few seconds.
3. If Login AlertX detects a recent login event (within the past few minutes), it may also send an alert automatically — this is normal and confirms the monitoring service is active.

Step 6: Enable Auto-Start (Recommended)

To ensure Login AlertX runs every time your PC starts, enable the Start with Windows option on the Setup tab. The background service starts automatically regardless of this setting — this option controls whether the system tray icon and notification UI appear at login.

Step 7: Activate Your License (Optional)

Login AlertX includes a free 30-day Premium trial that gives you access to all advanced features — no credit card required. To activate it:

1. Click the License tab in the app.
2. Click Start Free Trial. The trial activates instantly and is tied to your PC.
3. To activate a purchased license, enter your serial key and the email address used at purchase, then click Activate. An internet connection is required for activation.

You’re All Set

Login AlertX is now running silently in the background. From this point on, every time someone logs into or unlocks your PC, you’ll receive an alert at the email address you configured. You can close the app window — monitoring continues automatically.

To reopen the app at any time, double-click the Login AlertX icon in your system tray.
