Slack

The Slack plugin for Login AlertX sends a formatted alert message to a Slack channel of your choice every time a monitored event is detected on your PC — logins, logouts, failed attempts, and more.

What You Need

  • An active Premium license
  • A Slack workspace where you have permission to add apps
  • The Login AlertX Slack plugin installed (bundled with Login AlertX)

Step 1: Create an Incoming Webhook in Slack

Slack uses Incoming Webhooks to accept messages from external apps. You need to create one and assign it to a channel.

  1. Go to api.slack.com/apps and sign in to your workspace.
  2. Click Create New App → choose From scratch.
  3. Give the app a name (e.g. Login AlertX) and select your workspace. Click Create App.
  4. In the left sidebar, click Incoming Webhooks.
  5. Toggle Activate Incoming Webhooks to On.
  6. Scroll down and click Add New Webhook to Workspace.
  7. Select the Slack channel you want alerts delivered to (e.g. #security-alerts). Click Allow.
  8. Copy the generated Webhook URL — it starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/....
💡 Tip: Create a dedicated #login-alerts channel in Slack to keep security notifications separate from your regular team conversations.

Step 2: Configure the Plugin in Login AlertX

  1. Open Login AlertX from the system tray.
  2. Navigate to the Plugins tab.
  3. Locate Slack Notification Plugin and click it to open its settings.
  4. Paste the Webhook URL you copied into the Webhook URL field.
  5. Click Save.

Step 3: Test the Connection

  1. With the Slack plugin settings open, click Test Connection.
  2. Login AlertX will send a test alert to your Slack channel.
  3. Check your Slack channel — you should see a message from the app within a few seconds.

What a Slack Alert Looks Like

Each Slack message includes:

  • The event type (Login, Failed Login, Lock, etc.)
  • The Windows account name that triggered the event
  • The date and time of the event
  • The public IP address at the time
  • The anomaly score if applicable

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • If the test fails, double-check that you copied the entire webhook URL without any trailing spaces.
  • If you delete the Slack app or revoke the webhook, you will need to generate a new URL and update Login AlertX.
  • Slack webhooks require an active internet connection. Alerts generated while offline will be retried automatically when connectivity is restored.
  • You can use Slack alongside email, push, and other plugins simultaneously.
