Google Chat

The Google Chat plugin for Login AlertX posts a formatted alert message to a Google Chat space every time a monitored event is detected — logins, failed attempts, remote access, and more.

What You Need

  • An active Premium license
  • A Google Workspace account (Google Chat is part of Google Workspace; personal Google accounts also support webhooks in Spaces)
  • A Google Chat Space (group chat) — Webhooks are not available for direct messages
  • The Login AlertX Google Chat plugin installed (bundled with Login AlertX)

Step 1: Create an Incoming Webhook in Google Chat

  1. Open Google Chat and open the Space you want to receive alerts in.
  2. Click the Space name at the top to open the Space settings menu.
  3. Select Apps & integrations.
  4. Click Add webhooks.
  5. Give the webhook a name (e.g. Login AlertX) and optionally add an avatar URL.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click the (Copy link) icon next to your new webhook to copy the Webhook URL.
💡 Tip: Create a dedicated Space named “Security Alerts” with just you (or your team) as members. This keeps login alerts separate from your regular conversations.

Step 2: Configure the Plugin in Login AlertX

  1. Open Login AlertX from the system tray.
  2. Navigate to the Plugins tab.
  3. Locate Google Chat Notification Plugin and click it to open its settings.
  4. Paste the Webhook URL you copied into the Webhook URL field.
  5. Click Save.

Step 3: Test the Connection

  1. With the Google Chat plugin settings open, click Test Connection.
  2. Login AlertX will send a test alert to your Google Chat space.
  3. Check the space — a test message should appear within a few seconds.

What a Google Chat Alert Looks Like

Each Google Chat message includes:

  • The event type (Login, Failed Login, Lock, Remote Connect, etc.)
  • The Windows account name that triggered the event
  • The date and time of the event
  • The public IP address at the time
  • The anomaly score if applicable

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • If no message appears after the test, ensure the webhook URL was copied in full. Google Chat webhook URLs are long — make sure nothing was truncated.
  • Google Chat webhooks can expire or be deleted from the Space settings. If alerts stop arriving, check that the webhook still exists and regenerate it if needed.
  • Webhooks require an active internet connection. Alerts generated offline are retried automatically when connectivity is restored.
  • The Google Chat plugin can run alongside email, Slack, Teams, and push notifications simultaneously.
